Wat Arun - Temple of Dawn Location : The Chao Phraya Riverside, Bangkok Wat Arun known as the temple of dawn located on the Chao Phraya riverside which the temple was built during the Ayutthaya period and was originally called Wat Makok after the name of the local village Tambol Bangmakok. It means "Village of Olives". Wat Arun gets its name from Aruna, the Indian god of the dawn, hence its common name The Temple of Dawn. The location of the temple is in the area that used to be occupied by the palace of King Taksin who re-established the Siamese Kingdom after the fall of Ayuttaya more than two hundred years ago. The main Buddha image is believed to have been designed by King Rama II. Wat Arun, often called The Temple of Dawn, is one of the most remarkable visual identities of Bangkok. The imposing Khmer-style prang or tower is 67 metres tall and decorated with bits of porcelain that was used as ballast by boats coming from China. It is surrounded by four smaller prangs. Contact : Tel. 0 2891 1149 Wat Khun Inthapramun Location : Pho Thong District, Ang Thong This is an ancient temple built in the Sukhothai period. Judging from the remains, it was a large temple. In the former Wihan, which was destroyed in a fire, you will find the largest and longest lying Buddha statue of Thailand, with a length of 50 meters. The statue's features and size are similar to the Phranon Chaksi statue in the Sing Buri province and it is therefore believed that it was built at the same time. The statue depicts Buddha with a calm, smiling face that demands respect and loyalty from people. Several Thai kings showed respect to the statue, such as King Borommakot in 1753 and King Rama V in 1878 and 1908. King Rama IX came here in 1973 and again in 1975 to hand over the royal Kathin robes. Buddhists from all over the country visit the statue to show their respect. Contact :- Wat Chai Wattanaram Location : Ayutthaya The ancient city of Ayutthaya, or Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, which was the Thai capital for 417 years, is one of Thailand's major tourist attractions. Many ancient ruins and artwork can be seen in a city founded by King U-Thong in 1350, when the Thai people were pushed south by their northern neighbors. During that time, 33 kings of various dynasties ruled the kingdom until it was looted by the Burmese in 1767. Contact : - Straw Bird Fair Location : Chainat Provincial Hall, Mueang District The Straw Bird and Red Cross Fair takes place every year in January or February on the weekend after the rice harvest. At fair, the straw left from the rice fields is used for a good cause. In the process, bird-shaped straw piles of all shapes and sizes are produced from the straw, representing various species of birds in the wild. On the riverside terrace in front of the City Hall, colorful hornbills, kingfishers, herons, parrots, peacocks and many more are displayed in oversize, life size or miniature for a competition. Every year in June, durian is usually sold at fruit stalls for 1-2 weeks. The festival was created to promote "Chanthaburi is a paradise of tropical fruits". At the fair there are competitions with rafts decorated with fruit, beauty queens competitions, famous fruits from the east such as rambutan, durian, mangosteen, rakam and sala zalaccas and santol and exhibitions of handicrafts of the housewives groups of the farmers. Contact : - Mon Bridge Location : Sangkhla Buri District, Kanchanaburi The Mon Village is a small ethnic village at the northern end of Vajiralongkorn Dam. The village is inhabited by the Mon tribe, who still live a simple life. It has become a magnet for tourists who want to explore the life and culture of the tribe up close. Many tour operators offer half-day or full-day tours of the village, which usually include a performance of Mon dancers and local food. For longer stays there are private accommodations and some small guesthouses available. The highlight there is, however, without doubt the longest wooden bridge in Thailand, the famous Mon bridge, which connects the Mon village with Sangkhlaburi. The best time to visit the island is between October and May. During the rainy season, from May to October, visitors are not allowed to visit the islands southeast of Koh Chang, such as Koh Kood, Koh Mak, Koh Wai and Koh Kham, but the boat trip to Koh Chang itself may take place all year round. During the rainy season, the boats sail along the inner coast of Koh Chang, as the long shape of the island provides shelter from sea winds and waves.
